Correction removes defects. It does not hide them.
If your paint looks hazy under direct sun, you are looking at thousands of fine scratches in the clear coat.

Paint Correction
Paint correction is machine polishing. We remove a controlled amount of clear coat so the surface becomes flat again, and flat paint reflects light cleanly instead of scattering it. That scattering is what you see as swirl marks, haze and dullness.
It starts with inspection under proper lighting, because you cannot correct what you cannot see. We map the defects, work out how deep they run, and then choose the least aggressive combination of pad and compound that will actually remove them.
This is the service where the honest answer sometimes costs us money. Some defects are deeper than the clear coat can safely give up, and we will tell you that instead of chasing them.
The benefits of paint correction
Defects removed, not filled
Glazes and filler polishes hide swirls for a few weeks and then they come back after a wash or two. Correction takes the scratch out by levelling the surface around it. What you see afterwards is what you keep.
Inspection first
We look at the paint under lighting that shows defects before we touch it, so the plan matches what the car actually needs rather than a standard package.
The least aggressive step that works
Clear coat is finite. We test on a small section and start with the gentlest combination that removes the defect, because every pass takes material you never get back.
Enhancement or full correction
An enhancement polish takes out most of the light swirling in a single stage and gets you a big visual jump for less. A full multi stage correction goes after the deeper marks. We will tell you which one your paint justifies.
A surface worth protecting
Correction is what makes a ceramic coating worth buying. A coating locks in whatever is underneath it, so correcting first is the difference between sealing in gloss and sealing in swirls.
Paint Correction, explained
Your clear coat is thinner than you think
What correction is
- Machine polishing that removes a controlled amount of clear coat.
- The surface becomes flat again, so it reflects light cleanly instead of scattering it.
- That scattering is what you see as swirl marks, haze and dullness.
- What you see afterwards is what you keep. Nothing is filled.
Inspection first
- The paint is looked at under lighting that actually shows defects.
- Defects are mapped, and their depth worked out, before any pad touches the car.
- The plan then matches the car rather than a standard package.
- We test on a small section before committing to a combination.
Clear coat is finite
- Factory clear coat is roughly 40 to 50 microns.
- A sheet of copy paper is about 100 microns, so it is around half that.
- Every correction takes a few microns you never get back.
- This is why we start with the least aggressive step that removes the defect.
What it will not do
- If a scratch catches your fingernail it is through the clear coat.
- We can improve how it looks. We cannot remove it.
- A car polished badly before has less clear coat left, so we work more conservatively.
- We will say what is achievable before starting, not after.

Your clear coat is thinner than you think
Factory clear coat is typically somewhere around 40 to 50 microns. A sheet of copy paper is about 100 microns. Everything protecting your color is roughly half the thickness of a sheet of paper.
Every correction removes a few microns of it. Done carefully and infrequently, that is fine, and there is room for it over a car's life. Done aggressively, repeatedly, or by someone chasing a scratch that was always too deep, you run out of clear coat, and once it is gone the only fix is paint.
This is why we measure and test rather than starting with the most aggressive compound. It is also why a shop offering to buff out anything for a flat fee should worry you: they are either not removing the deep defects, or they are taking material the car cannot spare.
If a scratch catches your fingernail, it is through the clear coat and correction will not remove it. We can improve how it looks, and we will say plainly what is achievable before we start. Some cars, particularly ones that have been machine polished badly before, have less clear coat left to work with and we will correct more conservatively as a result.

What does it cost?
From $599. Correction varies more than any other service we offer: price depends on size, paint hardness and how much defect there is to remove, so we quote after seeing the car.
How long does it take?
One to two days. It is slow work and it does not go faster without going worse.
Will the swirls come back?
Not the ones we removed. New ones come from washing, which is why we suggest a coating or a maintenance schedule afterwards to protect the result.
Do I need a full correction?
Often not. An enhancement polish gets most cars most of the way for less. We would rather sell you the smaller job that suits the paint.
Can you do this at my house?
Yes. We work mobile, and correction needs controlled lighting rather than a controlled room. We bring the lighting.
Keep it this way
Correction takes clear coat you never get back, so it is worth doing once. What decides whether you need it again is how the car is washed in between.
